Newport Beach, CA - - Today, Congressional candidate Scott Baugh (R-CA47) announced that he has raised $1,076,090 for his 2024 congressional campaign, including $545,000 in the second quarter. Baugh ended the first half of 2023 with over $1 million cash on hand.
“I am deeply grateful to my supporters who have placed their trust and confidence in our campaign,” said Baugh. “The foundation we built in 2022 is going to pay off with an incredible victory in 2024.”
The open district in coastal Orange County is a top target for House Republicans in 2024. In 2022, Baugh came very close to knocking off incumbent Katie Porter (D), who spent a record $28 million on her campaign for reelection. Porter is running for U.S. Senate in 2024.
“Scott Baugh had already proven that he was a strong fundraiser. But having a million dollars cash-on-hand nearly year and a half before the general election shows incredible momentum and strength," said Jon Fleischman, publisher of the Flash Report and former Executive Director of the California Republican Party. “California’s 47th District represents the best pickup opportunity for Republicans in the country. The unity of all Republicans behind his candidacy and these strong fundraising numbers show that Baugh is the right candidate to win this district for the GOP.”
A former Republican Leader of the State Assembly, Scott Baugh is an active member of the community, having founded the OC Marathon Foundation, a local charity that has helped teach 100,000 young people about exercise and nutrition. Scott has also served as Chairman of the Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership which works with law enforcement, teachers and parents throughout the county to keep kids out of gangs. He is a trustee at Pacifica Christian High School of Orange County. Scott and his wife Wendy live in Huntington Beach. He has lived in the district for over 30 years.
