Rep. Tom McClintock endorses Scott Baugh for Congress
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — U.S. Representative and conservative icon Tom McClintock has enthusiastically endorsed Scott Baugh for Congress in the 47th District.
“I served with Scott in the State Legislature and saw firsthand his conservative leadership,” said McClintock. “I enthusiastically endorse Scott for the 47th Congressional District.”
Scott Baugh is running in the swing 47th District in coastal Orange County, California, an open seat due to incumbent Katie Porter’s decision to run for the U.S. Senate. In spite of being outspent by over $20 million, Baugh came within 2 points of defeating Porter in 2022. The coastal district includes the cities of Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine and portions of Laguna Hills.
“I am honored to have Congressman McClintock’s support and I look forward to working with him to remove waste, fraud and abuse from the federal government, keep tax rates down and reduce the debt that is strangling our economy,” said Baugh.
Scott Baugh is the former Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party and former California Assembly Republican Leader. He is an active member of the community, having founded the OC Marathon Foundation, a local charity that has helped teach 40,000 young people about exercise and nutrition. Scott has also served as Chairman of the Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership which works with law enforcement throughout the county to keep kids out of gangs. He is a trustee at Pacifica Christian High School of Orange County. Scott and his wife Wendy live in Huntington Beach. He has lived in the district for over 30 years.
