Another Key Endorsement: House Majority Whip Tom Emmer endorses Scott Baugh for Congress

Newport Beach, CA – – In another sign that Republicans have united in support of Scott Baugh for Congress, today, House Majority Whip Tom Emmer announced his endorsement for the Orange County Republican’s campaign in the open 47th District.

“Scott Baugh is the leader we need to win this seat and deliver common-sense representation for Southern California,” stated Emmer. “As House Republicans fight to keep and expand our majority, this race is a top priority. I’m honored to endorse Scott and look forward to helping him win next November.”

Scott Baugh is running in the open CA47, expected to be one of the top targets in the nation for both parties in 2024. In spite of being outspent by over $20 million, Baugh came within 2 points of defeating incumbent Katie Porter in 2022. The coastal district includes the cities of Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa, Irvine and portions of Laguna Hills.

“I am grateful to receive Whip Emmer’s pre-primary endorsement and strong words of support and I look forward to working with him and our entire Republican leadership team to advance common-sense policies that grow our economy, keep us safe and get America back on track,” said Baugh.

A former Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party and former Assembly Republican Leader, Scott Baugh is an active member of the community, having founded the OC Marathon Foundation, a local charity that has helped teach 100,000 young people about exercise and nutrition. Scott has also served as Chairman of the Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership which works with law enforcement, teachers and parents throughout the county to keep kids out of gangs. He is a trustee at Pacifica Christian High School of Orange County. Scott and his wife Wendy live in Huntington Beach. He has lived in the district for over 30 years.
