Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes endorses Scott Baugh for Congress
NEWPORT BEACH, CA – Fresh off his endorsement from the California Republican Party last week, Scott Baugh (R-CA47) scored another major endorsement today when Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes announced his support for Baugh’s candidacy.
“Law enforcement stands behind Scott Baugh and I am proud to endorse his candidacy,” said Sheriff Barnes. “Scott’s leadership on the board of Orange County’s Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership has been exemplary.”
Scott is Chairman of the Orange County Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership (OC-GRIP) which works with law enforcement, teachers, and parents throughout the county to keep kids out of gangs.
“Violence and lawlessness have risen as politicians have moved away from holding criminals accountable for their actions,” said Baugh. “Instead of holding criminals accountable, the Governor of our state is turning San Quentin prison into a rehabilitation resort and legislators are burying every strong proposal to toughen our laws.”
Scott Baugh is the former Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party and former California Assembly Republican Leader. He is an active member of the community, having founded the OC Marathon Foundation, a local charity that has helped teach 100,000 young people about exercise and nutrition. He is a trustee at Pacifica Christian High School of Orange County. Scott and his wife Wendy live in Huntington Beach. He has lived in the district for over 30 years.
