|IRVINE, CA – -Today, Republican House Conference Chair, Rep. Elise Stefanik, announced her endorsement for Scott Baugh (CA-47). Stefanik is the third-ranking Republican in the House of Representatives.|
“The Far-Left policies of Joe Biden and Katie Porter have failed America,” said Rep. Stefanik. “Scott Baugh has the experience, ability, and commitment we need in Congress to reduce taxes, rebuild the economy, secure our border, and get America back on track. I’m proud to join Leader McCarthy in endorsing Scott’s campaign, and I look forward to working with him to defeat Far-Left Katie Porter and take back the House to fire Nancy Pelosi once and for all.”
Scott Baugh is running in the newly drawn 47th District, the majority of which is new territory for liberal incumbent Katie Porter. Roughly 2/3rds of the district is currently represented by Congresswoman Michelle Steel, who has also endorsed Scott.
“I am honored to receive this pre-primary endorsement from one of our party’s most influential national leaders, Rep.Elise Stefanik. I look forward to joining her in the fight to restore common-sense conservative leadership in Congress and get America back on the right track,” said Baugh. “Our economy is heading in the wrong direction and we cannot wait to turn things around. With inflation raging, Congresswoman Katie Porter voted for a $2 trillion tax increase and massive expansion of the federal government’s spending and authority over private lives and businesses. Her extreme socialistic policies are a recipe for more inflation, more debt and fewer economic opportunities.”
Scott Baugh is the former Chairman of the Orange County Republican Party and former Assembly Republican Leader. He is an active member of the community, having founded the OC Marathon Foundation, a local charity that has helped teach 40,000 young people about exercise and nutrition. Scott serves as Chairman of the Gang Reduction Intervention Partnership which works with law enforcement throughout the county to keep kids out of gangs. He is a trustee at Pacifica Christian High School of Orange County. Scott and his wife Wendy live in Huntington Beach. He has lived in the district for over 30 years.
The new 47th District includes the cities of Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Costa Mesa and Irvine.
